Evening all,
Just back from the fight against the crying wolf crowd at the Royal Courts of Justice, different case, same experts, same expenses. It was so nice to see Mr Stoodley et al, didn’t know he was going to be there, but so nice to see him again after all he was one of the abusers of our children, causing them stress and grief. He didn’t look comfortable seeing us, unlike his smiling friend, mind you he stopped smiling when Lord Moses announced Mrs Henderson was in the court (totally blew the covert low profile lol - there’s worse things)!!
We hadn’t heard much about this case R v Butler, but it took us under 15 minutes to think what a pile of sssssomething or other! It wasn’t even a ‘Triad’ case (possibly due to cutbacks?) they only had 2 parts to go on! But they still gave it a run.
Thankfully the little child in this case is still with us.
They also had linked an earlier incident to it, to try and paint a bad picture? To help con-vince the jury. It had involved Dad placing the child near a radiator to keep warm, it was the only heat source in his flat (and it was winter), so he had laid her down on a pillow near it and she had rolled onto the hot radiator causing burns. The child was taken to the Doctors and no concerns were raised and they were treated.
Now hows this for a small world (I mentioned last night what would happen if an Expert had been accused of child abuse) - well during the trial, one of the experts had said something along the lines of ‘oh well my child rolled onto a radiator too and they were much older (therefore more able to roll, so he should have known it was a greater risk)’. No he is involved in Child Protection cases and he allowed his child to come to harm…now he’s an expert so what chance do the rest of us have?! I take it this was said in open court first time round so I anticipate that the Crying Squad will be round to nick him anytime now…oh unless of course it falls under the 2 rules rule (one for them, one for us). We won’t be taking bets on that!
The SBS side of things rang a lot of bells with us, the little child was dropped off by Mum and wasn’t very well, words like floppy, pale, not capable of holding drink/food down. But as Dad was last with the baby thats it…reminded me of what happened to Susanne Holdsworth. Not saying Mum did anything of course, never met her, I am more concerned there is something out there that causes these things. But that no one else is bothered to look for.
The judges seem very fired up today, not happy with a lot of issues from wondering why the trial hadn’t been stopped. One thing that made me smile wryly, as the Panel of Judges said they had concerns at 15 experts being used against the defendant, try 32 as we had! Even the CPS today admitted there was a disproportionate advantage to the Crown when it comes to resources.
A comment I did like was the more inflated the experts are the more careful the jury have to be. Theres more hot air than a hair dryer test facility - or if you prefer some of them are of Zepplin proportions (talking of Zeppelins theres a building in Farringdon that is called Zeppelin House, funny old British humour there - it was bombed by a Zeppelin, thats todays useless bit of info).
Other points came out about that not all the CPS experts agreed, they (the CPS) had said they did, also that the Triad is only a signpost (and if you drive round London or the UK, you’ll often realise that signs are often wrong)! One expert says its unlikely to have been a shaking case as the child recovered. Also things like jurors getting the medical terms and nodding off etc - all ringing true for us so far…
But also points like why do we keep putting these cases in front of Juries, when the experts can disagree and be quite nasty about other experts (including their own tutors).
By the way please tell me your not still dressed in the same gear (to a certain Doc) you must have earned enough on all the cases to buy loads of suits and shirts and ties by now?
The CPS seemed glad to sit down at the end of their opening gambits, the experts seem huddled together, makes for a bigger target…
I was thinking of adding this to their websites
If you have a case, with no evidence, and you need someone to come along and make things fit (fits don’t cause death remember), and you have lots of money (the public purse will do nicely) and you can find them, then call the ‘Crying Squad’….
…it was going to be the A-Team…but I can’t think of anything polite for the A to stand for…
