Beyond all reasonable doubt?

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

Good Evening,

I was watching something on TV earlier about Lie Detectors and the fact they are still not allowed in British Courts, as they are not a 100% accurate. They are only about 90% accurate according to this show. The judges apparently feel that this is not good enough.

I just wondered how accurate experts are then…. must be a 100%….of course, silly me.

Just an observation.

A really Happy New Year

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

I meant to say in the last ‘blog’ that Keran is only just getting to replying to letters sent in to her in December, so if you are expecting a letter, she is ploughing through the mountain and will get to you by Christmas 2010 I reckon!

I have just opened up an e-mail from an old school friend of Keran and myself and they have just been blessed with 2 baby boys, yesterday morning. So I am going to take that as a good sign for 2009. Welcome to the world J&F!

So many friends have had such bad years of late, or bad news in recent months that it really can’t last, like the credit crunch. There’s always good news out there, its just hidden at  times.

There was the news that the ex boss of a certain Social Services lost their appeal, about wrongful dismissal, should think so to! It’s usually the ’poor bloody infantry’ that get it in the neck. Mind you I hope they look into not giving people huge pensions especially when they make such grand cock-up’s.

Mind you I am not sure money is the right route for all things though, offering teachers £10,000 to stay at schools for 3 years. Maybe supporting them better, and trying to get not just the teachers but society to help set ground rules for our younger citizens maybe time better spent. Not sure where the Government are getting all this cash from….maybe they borrowed it from the banks?

So look for the good stuff that is out there somewhere in the world, and cherish the important things, like fast cars, a house in the South of France, Antigua and Los Angeles, a swiss bank account and….hang on sorry that was the 1980’s and 90’s version. Enjoy every breath you take….

Wasn’t that a song by the Police?

p.s.

Still no news…but, a day closer to Keran coming home

Happy New Year

Monday, January 12th, 2009

Hi,

A rather belated Happy New Year to all!

I do apologise but one of these winter bugs caught up with me and we will leave it there, it wasn’t pleasant! But regaining fitness, just in time for the fight that will be coming this year! About time to …it’s been a short time in the Legal world, but in the life’s of the lads, Keran of course and me, our families and friends, it’s been way to long. Incredible to think we have passed 400 days. Hoping it won’t be 500, but we will see.

Today I heard about the …er situation in Doncaster…what can you say. We must review what the hell is going on, no ‘independent’ reviews that come back and just say whoops it won’t happen again, no nonsense, no spin, we need to protect those that most need it and prosecute those actually guilty of appropriate offences not second best stuff like in Baby P. How they didn’t get done for Manslaughter at the least, I have given up trying to fathom.

This year is sure to bring some sort of justice for us and a look at the other cases out there like Mike Burridge in the UK. But also our friends the Hyatt’s over in the States, the Canadians are still looking at the aftermath of the Goodge Enquiry so hopefully across the world these cases will be looked at without fear or favour … but with fact not fiction! Not much to ask…is it?

Anyway whilst we wait I am thinking of applying for the ‘best job in the world’, the caretakers job in Australia. Its only £70,000 a year, with a house on the worlds most beautiful islands, I know I was thinking whats the point?! It doesn’t sound that good!! I mean I have had a good few jobs already, Angelina Jolie’s dresser, I was fired after forgetting to shave and putting on my dress, Premier League football player (I left, the wages were like Slave Labour), I also was a Formula One Driver, but it never went anywhere (just round and round and round) plus the company car wouldn’t take the camping gear. So if this is really the best job in the world, I may take it, only if to stop anyone else having to suffer being stranded on a beautiful, lush, tropical location.

Anyway smile more, open doors for people, and remember we will meet again in the Whitsun Islands one day…you can visit me at the beautiful house overlooking sapphire seas, dotted with emerald islands…

Please don’t tell anyone about the job in the Whitsun Islands off Australia…it’s only been advertised in 18 countries, on most of the web, in most National papers, so I don’t think demand will be high…do you? Where you gone…….

P.S.

Don’t forget our troops still doing what they do so well, throughout the last Christmas and New Year, still taking fatalities, and wounded. As the song says ‘Bless ‘em all’!
