Hi,
Last post of today that is. Took my inspiration from the miliatry mainly as news has come to us of two aircrew who perished in a crash in Scotland when their Tornado F3 went in. But also we lost a couple more troops in Afghanistan including the highest ranker a Lt. Colonel from the Welsh Guards and lots more in recent hours and days.
Lives lost keeping the peace and practising to keep the peace, blessed are the peacekeepers. My thoughts are with their families.
Don’t forget to wear red on friday to show you support the troops. I was thinking of Stockings and Suspenders, over my clothes of course, but apparently I may scare the delegates I am training! So maybe just a tie then…
Also sad news of a Firefighter killed up in Scotland. It is great to have an Armed Forces Day now, (although it maybe better to give the Armed Forces Helicopters), but I would like to organise another ‘Uniform Day’; at some point in the future. The idea behind that is of course it supports all the Armed Services, the Police, Fire Brigade, Paramedics, Coastguards, RNLI etc etc etc.
I was reading about the use of Scouts the other day in War Time and during WW1 there are pictures of guarding railway tunnels and bridges armed only with a ’staff’. So a piece of wood against the might of the German Army! They also used to do a whole host of other roles. I am surprised the Government hasn’t drafted them yet to make up the shortfalls in defence. Maybe they” start with the Cadet Forces first.
But the youth around here and the rest of us round here may have a fight on our hands, before they build on the fields around here though of course, first Heathrow expands, soon everyone in South Bucks, Berkshire will be able to shake hands with a pilot as they take off or land, then to cut carbon costs Pinewood want to cut pine woods…. maybe we should just concrete the area inside the M25?
The wood on the fields is called Copse Wood but known by many as Spitfire Wood as one crashed nearby in WW2 (the Pilot survived). The Spitfire was a symbol against the tyranny of the third reich, with their propaganda machine, fifth columnists etc. Maybe we need to dig it up and use it again?
As for the other fight on our hands well we sit and wait still, not forgetting all those that put us here, of course, so much to tell you that we can’t at the moment. Bring it on…
Whilst away last week I heard of an ‘expert’ witness who was used in a murder case in the East Midlands, who gave his evidence against a man, anyway…guess what…his evidnece has been called into question…unfortunately he won’t be there to give it at the re-trial as he killed himself. I am not sure if the person did kill the other one, but lets hope that the evidence against them is ‘real’.
I can hear a last post playing so I will take that as my cue to leave…
