Misinformed Jury?

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

Hi,

Its amazing what you pick up from your notes of the appeal. One I forgot, when asking the judges to look at a picture can’t remember what of at the mo, but the CPS said ‘its in the Jury bundle m’lud & m’lady, its not a very good one (picture)’.

The comment was supported by another ‘we have better copies in ours’.

Or something like, I pretty much have it written down verbatim.

Yeap you can give the Jury any old tat in their bundle, after all they are only deciding on someones freedom.

I thought it was meant to be ‘best evidence’. Not well we found these lying around and stuck them in…

Hey ho. I wasn’t surprised, just terribly sad. Talking of sad. I don’t know if anyone heard the story about the Dad who was stabbed defending his son, the case was kicked out as the Judge said the CPS had taken too long and they walked (had that myself a few years back in  a case). The ironic thing is the man concerned worked for the CPS. Who of course barred him from speaking out…free speech…don’t think so…

It does make you thing why there are more cases popping up, of people taking the law into their own hands. I feel so sorry for my ex colleagues that spend hours putting the cases together for something like that to happen and like in my case the CPS turned to me and asked me to tell the victim…I don’t think so…

Appeal observations cont.

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Hi,

I meant to also add.

It was very sad that during the appeal the news broke about the John Ratcliffe hospital and the tragic loss of 4 young children. It was a bit ironic as half the ‘experts’ brought in were from there.

I don’t suppose anyone will be charged of course. It is difficult work the surgeons do and I am sure no one is to blame in any criminal way. But their colleagues stand and point their fingers. The surgeons may need to be careful, with friends like that around.

I do wonder if in the sad event an experts child died if they would hand themselves in, if there was signs of the triad? There was a possibility of that happening years ago with the Cleveland Child sex abuse case, when the Doctor checked her own kids out for signs of sex abuse…what if she had found it, end of a marriage or her career?

Anyway back to SBS. They say in the triad that Retinal bleeds and folds are separate, I am obviously not an expert, but surely if there is blood flowing where it shouldn’t and it gets under membranes/skin whatever, it could cause it to ripple or fold?

The other issue is the very VERY limited number of damage to axons is bizarre. If you have a huge bundle of them packed in together then surely more would get damaged if pressed or squeezed against a harder surface of say bone or cartilage? But just half a dozen damaged out of tens of thousands is weak.

If it was an issue from birth that may affect why Maeve was ill, every 9.9 days  (on average) she visited a Doctor or Hospital in the last few months.

But no, its all part of the immaculate assault again.

I wonder how many are in prison on these sort of charges?

If they did it then they can stay in there for quite a while, but if they haven’t someone should be looking into it asap. This is a nightmare to live in, and there are many more affected by it on the outer edges.

Ooh one more thing when is a public space not a public space? When the CPS are using it…

Its a public space…get over it, you can stare all you like, I can live with that…we have lived with so much worse, for so long.

Horn and Halo, professional detachment, rational v emotional, transactional analysis and the attitude and behaviour cycle, how aware are you, of their impact on you? I train people in these sort of things…

Also how to print a powerpoint show…press print…that one is free of charge.

To all those who care, there are others out there, who need our help, good people and youngsters left without a parent/carer, I would like to send a little Easter. pressie to the young children left behind, so if you want to spread some Easter cheer (well…chocolate) let us know.

I know its a while off still but lets face it the eggs have been on the shelf since … well last Easter! I think I have seen the first Christmas cards (only kidding).

Stay safe and happy Halloween

Survival

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Hi,

One of my interests with the scouts is Survival Skills, not always about out in the wilds either. But to all the Carers out there read on and you will see what I mean…

YOU CAN ONLY SURVIVE . . .

3 SECONDS without hope

Most individuals freeze in an emergency. In the immediate confusion and chaos, the human brain tries to draw upon some familiar experience for a plan of action. Finding none, we become immobile. You have three seconds to decide that you have hope and move forward. Statistics show that in a plane crash, you have 90 seconds to exit the wreckage. Three seconds without hope can make the difference between whether or not you have time to clear the area.

Survival depends upon your ability to shake yourself out of the stupor of disbelief and hopelessness.

Walter B. Cannon studied the case histories of sudden, unexplained deaths from around the world. In 1942, he published his theory that the brain unleashes stress hormones that can cause fatal heart arrhythmias in individuals that have given up all hope of escape — they are literally scared to death. Use fear to spur yourself towards life-saving action. Determine to grasp onto hope and make a plan to live.

3 MINUTES without air

Few people can hold their breath for 3 minutes. In circumstances where oxygen is limited, your next priority is to get to a place where you can breathe.

3 HOURS without shelter (in extreme conditions)
Once you have breathable air, your next priority is to find (or construct) shelter. Those who take off on prolonged hikes may find themselves going in circles and/or racing the setting sun to construct safe sleeping quarters. In extreme conditions, you can live for a couple of days without water and weeks without food, but you cannot survive without shelter. You could suffer from hypothermia at 50 degrees, especially if the wind is blowing and you are wet. In warm climates, you will need shelter from the sun. Protect yourself from the elements.

3 DAYS without water
The next challenge is to find clean water. This may mean collecting rainwater or finding a water source shared by plants and animals. Avoid activity that leads to lots of sweating and heavy breathing. This causes your body to lose water more quickly. Conserve what water your body has by working at a nice steady pace. Whatever your course of action, your body will need water soon.

3 WEEKS without food

Some of us will survive even longer without it, but food will become an urgent concern for survival after a couple of weeks. With plenty of water, some can even survive longer than three weeks, but you will want to locate a source of nourishment while you still have the strength to do so.

3 MONTHS without companionship or love

This is actually part of the first rule of 3. In order to continue in a prolonged survival circumstance, most people need to have a sense of purpose and belonging. Knowing that someone is there for you and caring what happens to you can help you continue doing what is necessary for survival when the days and weeks seem to drag. Strong faith will make all of the difference for these survivors.

What can I say, we have had food, drink, love, a roof above our heads and most importantly you have given us hope.

I hope you never need to use the Survival Skills above, but its the Being Prepared as much as possible that helps get you through it!

 Stay safe and survive

Appealing

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

Hi,

The appeal is done and dusted. Still find things a bit strange to be honest.

If say Keran had been on holiday in the Bahamas at the time of the alleged offence say, and the first legal team didn’t mention it and she got convicted you don’t it seems have the right to mention it.

They (the Crown Persecution Service) still make out that Keran was alone, she wasn’t.

The CPS say it was a thorough investigation - it wasn’t. They NEVER interviewed anyone from the previous incidents OR the children at the last incident.

The experts still use the word ‘whizzing’ as Maeve was described by Keran in the baby walker - but Keran has NEVER really been asked by the ‘Experts’ what she meant….they assumed and that equals they mad an ass-u-me.

The WHOLE CPS case is based on an unproven theory and they are still allowed to use it.

They still believe in the immaculate assault, i.e. you can shake a child of Maeves weight and throw them down and NOT leave a mark, pick up a 10kg bag of spuds and tell me that you wouldn’t have to grip fairly hard. Bit like Susanne Holdsworths incredibly strong wooden Bannister’s that can take a 60mph impact and stay intact. Apparently the MOD are going to make the next ’snatch’ Landrovers out of the same wood. Incredible/

But one thing did come out of the appeal, I love people watching and whilst some of the CPS experts probably aren’t ‘people’ as such, it was very interesting to watch and listen.

Heres a few observations.

One the CPS experts had to constantly check over to their colleagues…it was like ‘am I saying it right’.

Also sneering (like children) when the defence experts spook oh and of course lots of headshaking…

Mind you thats when they weren’t sat using their Blackberries or indeed their laptops in court… how rude!

Anyway the other thing they all seemed to need more water intake than the defence experts, I know I could be accused of bias, but it was open for all to see and not just little old biased me! Could it be…dry, nervous, throats…take ’stop acting as if you know what your saying is gospel’ pills.

Talking of Gospel, not one of the Prosecution experts swore on a Holy Book…so help them God.

Interesting….they must not like the competition?

Anyway thats just a few…

Mind you one did say he had been doing his job for 16 years and he had never seen it before (I think he was referring to Prof Jim Morris’s theory on infection). I have been in Police uniform in my life for nearly 20years…Theres lots I have never seen or dealt with - just cos you haven’t seen it doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen Doc!

Mind you the scariest thing I saw was it would appear that Risdon may have two followers - them seemed to like looking across or gossiping with him. Risdon won’t be around much longer of course as time is against him (and the rest of us of course) but the thought there are new inflexible types following on is scary.

I have to apologise to the 10 Jurors who found Keran guilty to. As I had never had to sit through the CPS’s er…talks, shall we call them. Anyway, if that was used by the security services it would be considered torture. I left the room at one point as it was going on and on and on. I had looked out the window and seen a Dinosaur, then an Ice Age, then another Dinosaur that before my eyes turned into a mammal….

Sorry I am going on now…but I can see how it wears you down.

The other issue I have with that is they slagged off the last witness we had a Prof Leestma (I hope that the correct spelling - apologies its late) about 3 times, so I went off to the loo checked some text messages came back after 10-15 minutes and they were still slagging him off. He only has 47 years experience….

hmmmmm

Anyway we now have to wait….there are 2, possibly 3 more cases up before the panel over the next few weeks or so. Quite rightly they want to get the bigger picture on SBS. It just means we have to wait…luckily we are used to that.

It was sad that the appeal fell on Maeve’s anniversary that can’t have been easy for the family.

Thank you all for your support and cards, texts etc. Say a little pray for those without their loved ones around them.

Just before I sign off, I had to go to a Millionaires Banquet on Friday night that the Scouts had prepared with the help of District and our local leader team (you all know who you are).

The Scouts have to cook and shop for, set the table etc etc. So I got home from court, got changed and was pretty much straight to the Scout Hut where I was treated to Tomato Soup, home made of course, Pasta with Bacon and more Tomatoes and for dessert a sponge cake (again home made and without tomatoes)…I am still in one piece and I have to say it was lovely!

But one of the things the young people had to do was to make conversation. So they asked the other guests around the table ‘how was your week’ (and that sort of thing) and then of course it was my turn ‘how was your week’….

How indeed, bless em all, you had to be there.

Iain

p.s.

I was down at Runnymede the other day, doing a Recce for a possible Scout trip to the RAF Memorial and the surrounding area. It has been a long week, but when you look at all the names engraved on the panels. It makes you feel quite humble and what do we have to worry about. They fought above Northern Europe to make sure the rest of us could sit and blog! Maybe not blog…

But the three statues that are part of the memorial (which I hadn’t realised the symbolic nature of before) are

Courage - Justice - Victory

I just hope that gets echoed soon (although the first two will do - there are no victories, just pain)

P.P.S

Sue - the ceiling is full of stars, and theres one atop the whole structure.

Our friends that are like stars and are still here, contrary to what some thought they may achieve…
